Hide Well Ahead In Epsom

Ben Thomas has an interesting article on page 5 of today's NBR. It reports ACT's polling of the Epsom electorate. This shows that Rodney Hide has 56% of the vote compared to 27% for Worth. This confirms the comments that both Hide and Heather Roy have made to The Hive about their certainty of winning the Epsom seat. This is important as it means that a vote for ACT will not be a wasted vote this election. Because of uncertainty on this front last time around, and because many ACToids were putting their weight behind Don Brash, ACT's vote last election was unexpectedly low.

Given National's lurch to the left under Key/English we would expect that the level of ACT support this time around will be substantially higher than in 2005.
