There is an excellent article on page 8 of today's The Independent by Nick Stride. It emphasises the importance of replacing ad hoc tinkering with a bold infrastructure vision.
We just quote a couple of passages to give you a flavour (we don't have an online copy)
"A survey of executive opinion undertaken as part of the World Economic Forum's latest global competitiveness report ranked our inadequate infrastructure as the most problematic factor in doing business here. NZ ranked 50th out of 134 countries, mostly because of concerns about transport and energy."
"And its [Labour's] energy policy is a mess, also crafted to pander to the Greens and international opinion but without a clue on how to achieve security of delivery, keep down prices and meet demand growth."
