There are several sections from an opinion piece by Colin James in today's NZ Herald which deserve repeating (as of posting we can't access this electronically, but will provide the link once this available).
"After eight years of "running the show" and massive fiscal surpluses year after year, the Clark Government has had time and scope to fix systemic hospital shortcomings....
"The Government is not to blame for human error....But the Government is to blame for systematic error. If Government is determined to own hospitals, it is the Government's job to ensure that they are run efficiently and effectively - which means putting up good governance systems and stumping up with adequate resources."
The Hive agrees fully with you Colin. And can we comment that with regard to governance and resources, this Government has failed.
