The Business Council for Sustainable Development have a few minutes ago circulated a letter of response to one of Fran O'Sullivan's columns in the NZ Herald.
We are not convinced by Peter Neilson's denial that "the NZBCSD and I are providing some sort of Government policy echo on climate change policies."
The letter also contains the following paragraph "The Australian election result, and the likely change of administration in the US, improves the chances of a successful post 2012 Kyoto treaty which includes all countries and major emitters. This will also be influenced by the cumulative effect of other recent leaders’ conferences and the direction could be further affirmed at Bali next month."
The Hive would like to remind Neilson that the most likely President, should there be a change of administration in the US, is one Hillary Clinton. Her husband had the chance to ratify Kyoto I when he was in the White House and failed to do so. Why? Congress. That dynamic has changed little. And re Bali - we shall see.
And take note of the non-ideological position being taken by the new Australian Government at Bali.
