The Government continues to justify moving ahead of the world on climate change policy response on dubious grounds. Again, in today's Parliamentary debate, Government members justified the current rush on the grounds that if we don't move fast the EU might impose trade sanctions on us. Have a read of what happened inside the EU when this possibility was last raised (sorry about the French OMC=WTO). Only one (of how many current EU members???) raised the issue. Guess who? France. And what happened? They were laughed out of court. Not only is the idea dumb, but it would be totally illegal under WTO rules.
Again we ask, why does the NZ media allow this Government such leeway?
