EU Drops Demands In Attempt To Keep Climate Talks Alive

The EU is reported to be prepared to accept the compromise text that we reported on last night, without firm targets for emissions reduction, in order to keep the Bali Climate Change Conference alive. Delegates have been working through the night to try and reach agreement on a roadmap for negotiations over the next few years for a replacement to the original Kyoto Protocol. The major difference in the room now seems to be over the role that India and China will play in controlling emissions.
