ACT: The Return Of Roger Douglas
John Armstrong looks at the positive and negative factors at play for ACT with the return of Roger Douglas to the Party. We are not sure that we agree with Armstrong on his suggestions about a zero sum relationship between ACT and National. Going back to 1996, a large number of ACT voters were deciding between ACT or Labour. Don't forget that ACT was essentially formed from a split in the Labour Party, with the right of the right wing faction essentially moving to ACT (leaving Goff and Jim Sutton feeling pretty lonely within the Labour caucus).
