The Dominion Post editorial today has some good advice for Dr Cullen on the purchase of the railways from Toll.
Finance Minister Michael Cullen's bid to buy back Toll NZ's share of the railways is one that needs to be considered carefully, and if proceeded with, pursued with a capitalist's head and not a socialist's heart. Otherwise the history of botched deals and indefensible handouts of taxpayers' money that have characterised previous rail arrangements will continue.
Unfortunately the Dom Post doesn't go as far as we suggested in our post yesterday, but it is a good start.
The NZ Herald Editorial is also on rail, but has a more regional focus (Auckland).
