It seems that Malawi's diplomatic relations with Taiwan are looking shaky. This AP report explains why.
As we have reported before, Beijing is being a bit more sensitive on stealing Taiwanese "allies" at present as it does not want to increase Taiwanese nationalist sentiment in the run up to a possible referndum on UN membership in Taiwan. It will be interesting to see whether Malawi stays in the Taiwan camp until the referendum.
