The talk about a new closeness between the Green and Maori parties that was in the headlines last week seems to be short lived with the Greens upsetting Turiana Turia by running candidates in the Maori seats.
Maori Party co-leader Tariana Turia said yesterday she was upset to learn the Greens would contest the seats.
"In a meeting we had with them [earlier this year] they told us they were not standing in any of the Maori seats. It would seem the sands are shifting," she said.
The Hive has some admiration for Turiana Turia and her colleagues and was surprised they they and the Greens were said (by the Greens) to be becoming closer.
