Concerned About Security Of Electricity Supply This Winter?

You should be. One of the very significant events that took place last year, that was again largely missed by the media was Transpower's shutting down of Pole 1, the system serving one of the two cables that carry electricity between the North and South Islands. It is little wonder that this was pretty much missed, Transpower chose to announce the shut down on the day that the Government made its major announcement on its policy response to Climate Change.

A good article in today's Herald on Sunday analyses the significance of this issue. It is worrying stuff.

This article also raises serious concerns about Transpower's management.
