Time Out For Corn Ethanol?
The International Herald Tribune editorial today takes aim at corn ethanol and calls for the US Congress to end its tax break for corn ethanol and to call a timeout in the policy requiring a fivefold increase in ethanol production (the 2007 Energy Bill). The IHT worries about the possibility that corn ethanol actually accelerates global warming. “Without reform, rising food prices and increasing damage to the climate could provoke a reaction that could be the undoing of the entire biofuels industry. That would not bee helpful to the industry or the planet".
