John Armstrong On Climate Change Policy

John Armstrong also writes today about the u-turn in policy on emissions trading.

He concludes

What was going to be a major plank of Labour's re-election campaign is now gathering dust - just like the "Champions of the Earth" award now sitting on some shelf in the Prime Minister's office.

Hard hitting stuff. Armstrong also looks at the need for a political consensus on climate change, something that The Hive believes in strongly. It is a great shame that Labour tried to charge off on its won and gain political capital from this important global challenge. They will now pay a price for this mistake.

The Hive sees the only political consensus possible in the short term being around the introduction on a modest carbon tax offset by reductions in personal and business taxation. It will change behavior without causing enormous pain to the economy or individuals.
