Excellent Analysis Of The Government's Dilemma On Climate Change

The Government wants (needs) to be seen to be doing something but it would be political madness to do it. And it may be no easier to do anything in 2010 than it is in 2008. We agree with Fran's analysis in today's NZ Herald. It is why we keep advocating a carbon tax as the way forward in the short term. It could be modest initially and should be linked to offsetting tax cuts, but it could be the perfect initial step to changing behavior. What is more, it is what the Greens have been advocating since around 1994.
