Greens Make ETS Plea To Public
By Political Correspondent Marie McNicholas at 1:45 pm, 21 Aug 2008
The Green Party is making an eleventh hour plea to the public to help it decide whether to support the Government's emission trading scheme.
Party co-leader Jeanette Fitzsimons says Green MPs will make a decision next Tuesday and she took the unusual step today of revealing some of the progress made in negotiations with the Government over the design of the scheme.
At a press conference underway in Wellington she denied they were too frightened to make a call on the legislation.
Both Green Party and New Zealand First support is critical if the bill to set up the emissions trading scheme is to survive.
