Officials working on the emissions trading scheme have a new spring in their steps this weekend. they have been told that the Government has the numbers to pass the legislation. We are still surprised at this news and if true, the Greens will be selling their souls. But stranger things have happened in politics.
This will be manna from heaven for National. NZ First will have to explain how it justifies its action in supporting the scheme to its supporters, and the Greens will be looking extremely compromised. And by passing such flawed legislation Labour will lose the remaining business votes it might have had.
It will be very interesting to see the next couple of polls - TV3 might be out this evening.
