We have retasked our full network onto the ETS today. The results are confusing. Some have picked up that Winston Peters has been essentially blackmailed by Labour into accepting a largely unchanged ETS including the ban on new thermal electricity generation in return for support in the Privileges Committee. Those in this camp suggest we may have an announcement as early as tomorrow. Others tell us that this is complete nonsense.
We continue to believe that the NZ First and Green positions are hard to reconcile but maybe Winston is so desperate to survive that he is prepared to give way.
We may know more tomorrow.
