This is the Dominion Post's take on the unusual move to ask the Auditor-General to investigate issues around the Mary Anne Thompson scandals.
Some are suggesting that Clark is simply trying to protect her Ministers. Others say that there are no political implications, as Thompson has served under both Labour and National and worked for Winston Peters also in the past. We are not so sure. What did Ministers - particularly Cunliffe know? We also note that it was this Government that had Thompson as Acting Head of DPMC (though they got rid of her) and appointed her Head of the Immigration Service. Formally, these were not political decisions, of course.
