Will Today Be Winston Peters' Last As Foreign Minister?

The Hive is hoping that Winston Peters will do the right thing and get in behind the China FTA, but our instincts tell us that he might not. In today's Dominion Post he is claiming that it is OK to say one thing internationally and another in the NZ Parliament. We disagree. By doing this Winston will be putting a question mark in everyone's heads about the value of anything he says on any subject in the future. This would undermine completely his role as Foreign Minister where he is expected to represent New Zealand with credibility on the international stage. We repeat our position outlined yesterday - if you vote against this deal Winston, you should resign or be sacked.
