Labour Renewing Itself?
Colin James writes today that Labour can be well pleased with its renewal programme. He is particularly positive about Grant Robertson. We agree, he will be a real asset in the next Parliament. We are not so sure that this renewal programme is going to be enough to win the election, but we are struck by how much better planned the Labour renewal has been than National's. Thanks to the surprising Don Brash bounce a number of new faces came into Parliament last election for National who perhaps wouldn't have if things had been better planned. There are some very good additions - Groser, Finlayson, Foss, Tremain, Guy - but there are several real lightweights. John Key, a relatively new face from a different generation to the PM will probably pull National through. But is the current National team going to be a stellar performer as Government? We shall see.
